In just 11 months, eight-year-old Nurazzah Abdul Ghani read a record 203 books and magazines that she borrowed from the state public library. It is no wonder that the book-worm from Machang Bubok, Bukit Mertajam, was awarded the Penang Public Library Cor-poration’s most active reader (childrens’ category) for 2008.

RM16.292 million allocated for the construction of libraries

Malaysia's Daily Express News quoted Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Hajah Azizah Haji Moh Dun that the State Library, an agency under her Ministry, has been allocated RM16.292 million for the construction of libraries in Beaufort, Kota Belud, Membakut, and Nabawan.
